Balayage

Balayage is a French word that means “to sweep.” In this hair color technique, highlights are hand-painted or “swept” on the surface of random sections of hair.

Balayage

Balayage is a very popular technique for long hair. It graces the streets, magazines and A list celebrities everywhere, and in our opinion it’s not going anywhere soon. It gives you a lived-in, wearable, low maintenance hair colour that will last anywhere between 3 -12 months. Balayage is a free hand painting technique that creates lightness and varying tonal reflections throughout the lengths of the hair.

  • Commitment: 3-12 months
  • Time: 2- 3 hrs
  • Cost: $160-$280
  • Great for: Blondes and light haired brunettes looking for a sun kissed subtle effect.

One of the greatest advantages of the Balayage technique is that it will last
3-4 months on average.

Foliage

Over all foliage and balayage technique create similar effects. They both create a natural look with darker roots and light ends. However balayage doesn’t always produce enough lift on darker hair. This is where foliage comes in!

We create foliage highlights by incorporating foils into the balayage technique. This intensifies the lightening process and creates a more dramatic look for our darker brunette clients. We will often incorporate babylights as well if more lightness is desired closer to the root area.

  • Commitment: 3 – 6 Months
  • Time:  3-5 hrs
  • Cost: $225-$380
  • Great for: When a lighter, brighter more dramatic colour is desired.
